Story Concept and Characters

In a post apocalyptic world two lifelong friends make a pact to stand between evil and the innocent unaware that their sacrifices will lead to a moment when one friend must kill the other.
Story Breakdown:
Doom is unleashed after a foolish scientific experiment goes haywire and a deadly plague ravages the population. Survivors are left surrounded by masses of rotting corpses that begin to stand back up, hungry for human flesh. As the war against the undead begins, strange hooded figures appear from the darkness sacrificing survivors in unholy rituals to a powerful primordial God. Fear and panic cause survivors to turn against each other, trading humanity for survival. No one knows who to trust, or what to believe, and time is running out if humanity is to be saved.
The Survivors:

Draven Powell (24 to 34 years old, male)
U.S. Marine Sergeant - athletic build, physically imposing. Draven is an arrogant, sarcastic
character known for pushing people too far. He returns home from years of war to his beautiful wife and young daughter only to have them taken away when world
ends. Draven sits alone with a gun on the verge of taking his own life when his best friend, Monsanto, arrives at his door offering Draven a chance to avenge his
family and repair this broken world.
Erwin Monsanto (24 to 34 years old, male)
Intelligent, strong, charismatic, a born leader. An Intelligence Officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Monsanto returns to the states after being injured in Afghanistan. As the world is ending Monsanto never gets sick. He makes a promise to his dying grandmother that he will always
stand against evil no matter the consequence. Monsanto packs a bag and leaves on his most important mission. His first stop - to find out if his best friend Draven has survived.
Character Note: The name Monstanto is Portuguese and means, Sacred Mountain.
Hanna Janssen (21 to 28 years old, female)
Headstrong, impatient, vengeful. A beautiful young woman with a frightening fetish for sharp objects.
Hanna is a woman living a wonderful life until the end of the world turns her fiancee into a flesh eating zombie that she has to kill before he eats her. She will never
completely recover from these traumatic events. She hordes knifes and wields them with deadly efficiency. Often luring naive cultist close with her beauty, only to rip
them apart with her razors. She has trouble connecting with others. Hanna's deep rooted vengeance-at-all-cost attitude makes her unpredictable and reckless.
Simon Gray (30 to 40 years old, male)
Mysterious character. Brilliant mind. Simon wakes up in this horrible world with no memory of his past. He doesn't remember where he lives,
where he works,
if he was married, or if he has children. He finds a note in his pocket that reads, "I am Simon Gray, Remember," but he doesn't know who wrote the note, or if the note is meant for him. There
are moments when Simon knows things that he shouldn't be able to know. Brief flashes of returning memory give him horrible nightmares, and strange visions. He struggles to unlock the secrets
of his own mind.
Miroslava Bessonova (25 to 30 years old, female)
Sharpshooting handgun expert. Hometown: Odessa, Ukraine. Called "Nova" for short by the survivors. Nova trained from a young age in multiple firearm proficiency.
She was attending a handgun competition in the United States when the world ended. She will never be able to go home. Her firearm skills make her a valuable asset to the survivors. She has minor OCD - always cleaning her guns
and clothing, which is difficult in this grimy, gore covered world. The cultist make several attempts to recruit her.
Michael Goodman, (18 to 21 years old, male)
Fast runner, high school track athlete. Michael is a likable young man with a friendly disposition. He is always looking for ways to help out the group. The other survivors
see him as a little brother, and want to protect him. Michael is a brave survivor, but he quickly discovers that despite his speed he cannot outrun every monster in this new world.
Miranda Parker (22 to 28 years old, female)
Intense personality, focued on a desire to survive. The survivors find Miranda a prisoner of the cultist who are preparing to sacrifice her to an undead God.
After helping Miranda escape she becomes part of the group and directs Monsanto in his task of finding and deciphering occult tomes used secretly by the cultists. She has a
mysterious past, and on numerous occasions demonstrates a special knowledge of supernatural subjects.
Cylor Mills (22 to 28 years old, male)
Independent and confident. Cylor served in the Marines with Draven and Monsanto. A man known for taking care of dangerous situation under extreme pressure while never losing
his sense of humor. Cylor likes to prank his friends, drink lots of beer, have fun, and always have a different woman at his side. He believed himself destine for fame and fortune as a movie
star. During an random encounter Draven discovers evidence that Cylor may have survived and begins a desperate quest to locate Cylor. Even if Cylor can be found the survivors
question what type of man they will find. This new world changes everyone.
The Monsters:
Cultist, Corpse Worshipers (all ages, races, and walks of life)
Cultist are dedicated to fulfilling sinister prophecies that hasten the return of the "Great Old One". Ferocious zealots that will torture, murder and die for their fanatic beliefs. The cultists wear dark hooded robes and sometimes brand ancient symbols into their flesh to honor their faith. Using deceit and disguise, cultists infiltrate survivors as spies and saboteurs. The cultist demand human sacrifice - holding blasphemous ceremonies on rooftops, in subterranean catacombs, and deep within forests.
The Witch Sisters (all ages, races, female)
Secretive sect of the cultists responsible for conducting ceremonies to usher in the Old Ones.
Zombies, (all ages, races, and walks of life)
The dead resurrected. Hordes of vile undead that eat the flesh of the living. The majority of the world's population dies during an event that becomes know as "the Suffering" and become zombies.
